The last music video of the week for a rainy July comes from Mumford & Sons with their new release Ditmas.
The picturesque video, which was directed by Alex Southam (Alt-J/ First Aid Kit), was shot on location in Kiev and takes inspiration from the city’s heritage. The narrative follows a character that has grown up in a Cossack community, with Southam explaining that he was “surprised to learn that there is a small but ardent population who keep the traditions going”.
Mumford & Sons wrote and demo’d much of their album material in Aaron Dressner’s studio in Ditmas, an artist friendly Brooklyn neighbourhood. Wilder Mind is the band’s third album, which reached number one in six countries and has gained critical acclaim worldwide.
Since the album’s release in May, Mumford & Sons have been touring the US and charming fans with their new music. UK fans needn’t fear as the band will be returning to the UK to headline this year’s Reading and Leeds Festival at the end of next month (28/29 August).
Ditmas is released on 11 September through Gentlemen of the Road/Island Records.
