This week I bought Spector’s debut album “Enjoy It while it lasts“. I’ve been a fan of Spector since I first saw them back in the summer of 2011 with them supporting Kaiser Chiefs at Camden’s electric ballroom. They played a 30 minute set giving their all and trying to win the crowd over. By the end of the set people were jumping around and clapping along proving there were well worthy nominees of the Sound of 2011 list. A couple of months later I saw Spector live again at the Forum, with beforehand entering the venue being asked for a photograph holding a Spector leaflet, regrettably i said “no”. However listening to the songs live before the album was released you could tell it was going to be a punchy, energetic and loud. On the album my favourites are however the slower tracks “Grey shirt & tie” and “Lay low”. Frontman Fred’s voice is better suited showing emotion through the songs and lyrics. However fast-paced singles “What you wanted”, “Celestine” and “Chevy Thunder” showcase the band as a whole and that they are great new indie band.
