As the sun disappears behind the clouds once again, our listening habits go from sunny-pop to something a little more restrained. That’s why this week’s music video of the week is Mt. Wolf’s melancholy track Hamburg.
2015 marks a return for Mt. Wolf who took a hiatus last November when vocalist Kate Sproule announced her departure. However, the London band have bounced back with their Red EP – which was released on April 13 – and a comeback show at London’s Cecil Sharp House last week.
Hamburg traces the final deterioration of a fraught long-distance relationship. It’s filled with soothing hymnal vocals and acoustic elements layered with electronic beats. It’s the perfect track for a chilled Spring evening.
With music this good, we’re glad the band – which consists of members Sebastian Fox, Stevie McMinn and Alex Mitchell – has returned with more focus and a rejuvenated sound.
Mt. Wolf’s Red EP is available on iTunes now.
